A multicultural, trauma-informed social work approach

The online MSW curriculum combines core courses, two focus area options, a cultural immersion, and direct clinical experiences. Guided by Western knowledge and Native Hawai‘ian values — as well as other global Indigenous ways of knowing and doing — you will develop cultural competence, and learn how to practice cultural humility through active listening, engagement, and service. You will graduate prepared to pursue licensure, be a fierce advocate for social and economic justice, and empower diverse communities in multicultural settings.

  • Connect and build community during an in-person cultural immersion.
  • Apply what you learn during in-person clinical experiences.
  • Receive mentorship from faculty and community leaders.

This online MSW offers two focus areas to choose from to help you serve the communities that matter most to you — and in the most impactful way.

Global Indigenous: This focus builds on foundation year courses to further promote social work practice through a decolonial Indigenous lens. You will begin a process of decolonizing your thinking and move toward understanding social work practice from an interwoven approach that incorporates both Indigenous and Western worldviews.

Military and Veterans Affairs: This focus will allow you to learn the nuances of social work practice within local, state, and federal government programs when engaging, assessing, and treating active-duty military, veterans, and military family members.

Bring sustained harmony, wellness, and balance to communities that need it most.
