Military and Veteran Benefits
Hawai‘i Pacific University is proud to support active-duty service members, veterans, and military families. We offer a range of benefits and resources to help military-affiliated students succeed in our online and hybrid graduate programs.
Yellow Ribbon Program
- Hawai‘i Pacific University participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program, covering additional tuition and fees not paid by the Post-9/11 GI Bill® for qualifying veterans.
- For the 2024–2025 academic year, eligible graduate students may have up to 100% of tuition covered through the VA and Hawai‘i Pacific University’s Yellow Ribbon agreement.
- Active-duty members became eligible for Yellow Ribbon benefits on August 1, 2022.
Housing Benefits for Hybrid Programs
- Hybrid courses are considered in-person for VA Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) purposes. For hybrid courses, one hour of mandatory on-campus learning each term is required to be eligible for the VA MHA.
- Students taking at least one in-person course at Hawai‘i Pacific University while enrolled full time are eligible to receive the full housing benefit, based on the ZIP code of the campus.
- Fully online students receive half the national MHA average ($1,177.50 until July 31, 2025).
- Housing benefit amounts are based on rate of pursuit (i.e., how many credits you take per term).
Eligibility and How To Apply
- To use Yellow Ribbon benefits, students must be 100% eligible for Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits.
- Submit a Request for Veteran Enrollment Certification (RVEC) form each term.
- First-time users must include a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) or Statement of Benefits from VA.gov.
